A Blog?

gigapogo.com has been empty for so long and now, for it’s grand debut, it’s a WordPress blog of all things?

While working on development projects I often find myself digging through my old source code, bookmarks, emails, documents, wiki pages, or even Unix shell history trying to figure out exactly how I had done something. If all else fails I find myself starting from scratch…or, to update the phrase, starting from google.

Generally I’m not a fan of blogs, at least in the form they seem to occur quite frequently: “you won’t believe what my cat just did!” In contemplating where I could collect my technical how-tos, my empty webspace gigapogo.com came to mind. Once I considered putting what I really considered instructions to myself in a public forum the idea of a blog didn’t seem so bad. As a blog, people with better ideas are open to say, “No. You don’t want to do that. You are better off doing it THIS way…”. And maybe someone who encounters the same problem I had will be helped in some small way if they find my blog.

I really don’t know if I’ll keep up the blog. A good example of my stick-to-it-tivness can be seen in my son’s website (zanefox.com). He is 3 now and, at the time of this writing, the most recent pictures on his site are 6 months. As I am faced with new programming/development challenges every day as part of my job, I am hoping that it will help drive me to keep this site up-to-date.

Lets get this ball rolling!
